Sagaki Family Envoy, 1883

Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki)

Sagaki Family Envoy, 1883 - Handsome scene of the samurai Kinoshita Tokichiro (the future Hideyoshi) and Sagaki Yoshihide paying a visit to a daimyo. At right, Tokichiro kneels respectfully before the nobleman, who scowls down at him from a platform. He wears a red vest patterned with trailing vines over his armor, his hair pulled back into a short ponytail. The nobleman wears a voluminous purple robe and tall black court cap, a page kneeling at his side holding his sword. At lower left, Yoshihide kneels on the floor beside a long-handled sake server aaa, a tray of food, and a tray with a red lacquer sake cup on it. His black kimono features a beautiful burnished pattern. Wonderful detail in the fine palace setting and interior furnishings, with additional burnishing on the black lacquer trim of the platform, the armor, and scabbards.. An attractive design, vibrantly colored.
