Series; Daily Practice of the Tea Ceremony

Greeting Guests to the First Serving of Tea, 1897 - Charming scene of two beauties greeting a guest for the first serving of tea from a rarely seen Toshikata series depicting the tea ceremony. At left, the two women smile happily as their guest arrives at the garden gate with what might be a fan made from feathers in her hand. A blossoming cherry tree frames the scene. A lovely design, beautifully detailed with a burnished pattern on the black obi.
