Famous Paintings - Charming design from the series "Famous Paintings" (Meika gafu) featuring woodblocks by various artists, including Takeuchi Seiho and Kawai Gyokudo. Published in 1913 by Naosaburo Yamada (Unsodo), subjects range from birds and flowers to landscapes, figures, and objects, rendered with handsome calligraphic brush work. An attractive and interesting group of Meiji era prints.

Special detail - Metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the confetti-like dots across the top.
