New Edition of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road Sugoroku Game Board

Comments - Fantastic, large format, woodblock print sugoroku game board featuring the "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road." Sugoroku is a dice game similar to snakes and ladders that was popular with both adults and children. The game starts in the lower right corner at Nihonbashi Bridge in Tokyo, moving around the board to end at the large square in the center depicting the palace in Kyoto. A charming design and a great subject for a collector interested in classic Japanese games.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - 17 1/2" x 24 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good color and detail. Backed with paper, horizontal and vertical folds, a few small repairs.
