Series; True Scenes of Enlightenment

Nihonbashi Bridge, 1877 - Lively view of the busy Nihonbashi or Nihon Bridge in Tokyo. Two foreigners ride in a horse-drawn carriage, while a laborer near the center carries two wooden tubs hanging from a yoke over his shoulder. Storehouses line the opposite shore of the Sumida River, with a modern street lamp and telegraph wires overhead. A charming city view, nicely detailed.
