Pinks: Sawamura Tanosuke III as a Beauty, 1867 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tanosuke III as a beauty in summer, wearing a blue and white print kimono and smiling as she looks to the side. She pulls her robe open at the chest as she fans herself, trying to cool off. Oversized pinks in white and soft shades of rose and pink above slender stalks with delicate green leaves fill the background against the softly shaded night sky. A charming design from this rarely seen Kunichika series, attractively colored.
