Scene from Sarayashiki Kesho no Sugatami, 1863

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon XIII as the commoner Doroku in "Sarayashiki Kesho no Sugatami" at the Ichimura Theater in Edo. He stands next to a large waterwheel churning up splashing waves, sneering as he looks over his shoulder. He carries a tattered umbrella , his boldly checked kimono tucked up at the waist and tied with a red obi. His hair is short on top, with the rest pulled back into a knot at the side of his head. A handsome design with an interesting setting.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - Good detail. Folds at corners, a couple small repairs.
