Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
A Related Watching the Shape of the Moon, 1865

Comments - Charming image of Prince Genji enjoying a view of the moon from his room overlooking a beautiful garden. He relaxes on a cushion with a glass goblet of sake, his other hand on an elegant red lacquer armrest. At left, a smiling beauty moves aside a low folding screen, holding a round fan decorated with iris blossoms. Her kimono is shaded from purple to yellow and patterned with large yellow and red flowers. A bamboo railing surrounds the verandah, and candles burn in stands with glass globes. A handsome triptych with wonderful detail in the setting.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. A few small repairs, wrinkling throughout.
