Couple beneath a Blossoming Cherry Tree

Comments - Charming kabuki double portrait of a couple beneath a blossoming cherry tree. The beauty smiles happily at her companion, holding her sleeve to her chest. She carries a basket of greens in the other hand, a pink cloth wrapped around her head to protect her hairstyle. The man looks up at her with a slightly quizzical expression. The pair wears matching black kimono with bands of yellow decorated with ferns on the sleeves. An attractive design, beautifully detailed with burnishing on the black kimono and handsome woodgrain impression on the sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown
