Young Lovers Hinadori and Daihanji

Comments - Handsome scene from a play about a young couple who fall in love, unaware that their families are bitter rivals with estates on either side of the Yoshino River. At left, the beauty Hinadori kneels beside her mother, Sadaka, looking up with a sweet smile. Interestingly, Sadaka holds a sword. In the center, Hinadori's sweetheart, Daihanji eyes his father Koganosuke with a suspicious frown. Koganosuke glares angrily at the two women. The rushing river fills the background beneath blossoming cherry branches. An attractive design with large expressive figures and an interesting setting. Detailed with embossing on the white cord around Daihanji's topknot and metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the flowers on Hinadori's hair.

Image Size - 14" x 28" + margins as shown
