Series; Collections of Famous Products, the Pride of Tokyo

Collections of Famous Products, the Pride of Tokyo - Attractive design from a rarely seen Kunichika series published from 1896 to 1897 depicting famous places, people, and products in Tokyo. Each print features a portrait of a beauty surrounded by a bamboo frame, with a scene above of a noted shop, restaurant, or famous product, and a textile pattern at lower left. The title cartouche at upper right is surrounded by a folding fan and a different colorful blossom for each print. Beautifully printed with fine line work, soft shading, and delicate cloth embossing on the background behind the beauty, most images include deluxe treatments such as burnishing or additional embossing. An interesting series.

Special detail - Embossed pattern on the white kimono collar.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice color and detail. Some prints have a few wrinkles at side.
