Series; Hit Actors in a Contest of Storytelling, 1873

Hit Actors in a Contest of Storytelling - Handsome design from a kabuki series featuring popular actors beneath a fan-shaped inset. Below, two or three figures are set against a diagonally divided background featuring a red tie-dyed textile pattern at left and flowers or trees at right. Nice expressive figures detailed with fine line work in the hair. Some designs include deluxe publishing techniques such as embossing or burnishing. A rarely seen Kunichika series.
