Ichikawa Gonjuro as Kato Kiyomasa, 1885

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Gonjuro as the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa rushing forward with one hand thrown out before him. He wears a fine suit of armor over an olive green kimono and red pants, his hair falling loosely around his face and shoulders, his helmet hanging at his back. At left, the strong man Shitenno Taijimanokami lifts a horse high above his head. An interesting design with nice detail in the armor.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice color and good detail. A few creases, including one on face.
