Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Ume Yanagi Sakura no Kagazome" at the Nakamura Theater of a confrontation between two men in the courtyard of a mansion. The fellow at left frowning angrily as he holds a spear under one arm, glaring at the commoner at right, who grips a sword upright with both hands. The commoner grimaces with rage, the sleeves of his blue tie-dyed under robe tied back with a rope. The loose wisps of hair around his face give him a disheveled appearance. Behind the figures, walls extend toward a large red gate, the rooftops covered with snow. A great design with expressive figures and a handsome setting.
