Comments - Fantastic depiction of the famous daimyo Kato Kiyomasa hunting tigers in Korea. Kiyomasa was one of the three senior commanders during the Seven-Year War with Korea, and had the opportunity to hunt the animals while there. Here, Kiyomasa lunges forward as he thrusts a pole arm at a snarling beast, a samurai behind him holding his sword ready. Kiyomasa wears a red vest decorated with white flowers over his armor, and a tall helmet, his circular crest appearing on the helmet and his back. In the distance at bottom center, other warriors on a rocky ridge overlooking a pool fight three tigers in the water below. The first time we've seen the terrific, dramatic design.
