News from Far and Near, No. 27, 1874 - Dramatic and gory scene of a woman leaning over a wounded and dying warrior, biting her handkerchief in distress as she kneels over him. The warrior wears armor behind his clothing, a bloody sword in his hand. A man in a uniform looks down at the lifeless form, a cased sword at his side. A text panel above is topped with a scrolling vine and flowers. A rarely seen series illustrating sensational stories taken from various different newspapers (shinbun).

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 8 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good color and detail. Stitching holes at side, slight thinning at edges, repaired. A couple creases at edges.
