The Kan'ei to Shoho Era - Fantastic design from a series depicting beauties from different historical periods. This print depicts the courtesan Takao of the Miuraya reclining as she reads a letter. Her hair is carefully styled with delicate curls around her face, the sides looped down over her shoulders and drawn up into a topknot at the back. A fine blind hangs behind the beauty. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the hair and incredibly fine line work in the delicate hairline. A striking design.

Artist - Kiyochika (1847 - 1915)
