Ichikawa Danjuro as a Palace Lady-in-waiting

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro as a place lady-in-waiting, looking over her shoulder with a sober frown as she throws her hand out at her side. She wears a black coat eight a bold pattern over a white under robe tied with a blue and gray obi featuring birds, her long hair falling loosely over her shoulders. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black areas of the kimono.

Artist - Chikashige (active circa 1869 - 1882)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - Good color and detail. Vertical folds, light creasing.
