Preparing to Play the Koto - Lovely image of an elegant beauty preparing to play the koto, her two companions nearby. She wears a colorful purple outer kimono with a design of splashing waves and waterwheels over a red and orange butterfly patterned robe, her hair decorated with an elegant ornament. At right, a lacquer stand holds stacks of books and a bundle of scrolls. Beautiful color and detail in the elegant kimono fabrics, with embossed patterns on the white kimono collars and trim, and burnishing on the hair and the lacquer stand, plus accents of metallic pigment that have oxidized to a dark tone on the stand. A charming scene of upper-class ladies enjoying a favorite pastime.

Condition - Excellent color and nice detail. Backed with paper. A couple light creases, a few small marks on background.
