Moon Viewing on the 26th Evening

Series; Snow, Moon, Flower, 1899

Snow, Moon, Flower, 1899 - Chikanobu's 1899 "Snow, Moon, Flower" series is much less well known than his earlier series of the same name. This group presents beauties in daily activities throughout the seasons, with a large figure or figures in the foreground against a landscape background or in an interior setting. As always, Chikanobu's women are beautifully drawn and detailed, with careful attention paid to the style of dress and fabric patterns. Many include deluxe printing techniques such as embossing or burnishing. These lovely portraits are rarely seen on the market, and are a nice complement to Chikanobu's more famous beauty series.

Special detail - Burnishing on the black obi.

Image Size - 12 1/2" x 8 1/2" + margins as shown
