Confrontation at the Foot of a Bridge

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of a confrontation taking place at the foot of a bridge, The man in the center raises a sword above his head as he grabs the collar of the beauty at right, pulling her off balance. She throws one hand up in the air as she falls backwards, wearing a purple striped kimono over a red tie-dyed under robe. The fellow at left frowns angrily as he looks up at the sword. The bridge arches into the background behind the, with willow trees framing the view and buildings lining the opposite shore beneath a red sky. A colorful design with large expressive figures, detailed with burnishing on the beauty's black collar. The first time we've seen this Chikanobu triptych.
