Bushu, Moon over Ishihama, Taigyu Tower, Inuzaka Shino, No. 40 - Incredible scene from the novel "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden," which tells the tale of the "Eight Dog Warriors." These great samurai were the offspring of a mystical union between Fusehime, the daughter of Lord Anzai of the Satomi Clan, and a dog. Here, disguised as a woman, the young warrior Inuzaka Shino stands on the verandah of Taigyu Tower with his sword in hand, one foot on the railing. The interior shows the aftermath of a battle with an overturned table and the contents of a porcelain bowl scattered across the floor. A misty clouds floats before the full moon above, shining on a view of Ishihama Bay below. The inset at upper left shows the Princess Fuse and her husband, the dog Yatsufusa. A beautiful, atmospheric depiction, detailed with burnishing on the top of the black lacquer table.
