Yamashiro, Flowers of Daigo-ji, Chancellor Hideyoshi and Lady Yodogimi, No. 45 - Handsome scene of the daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his concubine, Lady Yodogimi, enjoying a cherry blossom viewing party at Daigo-ji Temple near Kyoto. A red floral carpet has been spread on the ground, and Hideyoshi lifts a cup of sake as he looks over at a party from the Tokugawa Clan seated across the way. The inset above shows blossoming cherry tree with a cloth panel tied to it that extends into the image below. Nicely detailed with embossing on the white kimono. An attractive view of this traditional spring activity.
