Illustrated Book Sets - Terrific set of two illustrated books. The full color covers form a diptych when placed side by side, and each book has many black and white illustrations surrounded by text. These books are installments in novels that were issued in multiple parts. Cover subjects range from beauties and noblemen to samurai and designs with supernatural elements. The covers are nicely detailed and printed, and the books have traditional stab bindings. These charming little two book sets are fun and unusual.
The Eight Lives of Buddha, a Japanese Library - Handsome illustrated diptych book set from the series "The Eight Lives of Buddha, a Japanese Library" (Shakka hasso Yamato bunko), a novel based on the life of Buddha that was released in installments. The series features full color covers and several black and white diptychs along with one or two single panel prints, the images surrounded by text. Some covers feature deluxe printing techniques such as embossing or bokashi shading. This two book set comes with the original outer sleeve as issued by the publisher. The first time we've seen these books with the original wrapper.
