Picture Lessons by Kajo, Complete Volume 3 with 12 Woodblock Prints, 1914 - Handsome complete Volume 3 of the series "Picture Lessons by Kajo," published by Unsodo of Kyoto in Taisho 3 (1914). It features 12 original woodblock prints intended for artists or students to study as examples of Nihonga or traditional Japanese painting, mounted side to side accordion style with a vertical centerfold, a table of contents, a colophon, and paper covers. Subjects include an ox, birds, flowers, an elderly traveler, a fish, a mouse eating grapes, and a mask of Okame, the goddess of mirth. Most are rendered in black and gray in the manner of a sumi ink painting, while a few have accents of one or two colors. A charming complete Meiji era book.

Image Size - Each image 9 7/8" x 14"; overall size 9 7/8" x 7" x 3/8"

Condition - Excellent detail. A few prints have a couple spots. One floral design has a small loss in the subject.
