A Thousand Grasses
Sekka's beautiful series A Thousand Grasses (Chigusa) was published by Unsodo in 1899. One of his great masterworks, this three-volume set of woodblocks included stylized landscapes and nature scenes as well as subjects from Japanese folklore and decorative arts. Published by Unsodo, the woodblocks were printed to the highest standards, including the addition of mica and embossing. Boldly designed with simplified forms, these works are elegant and timeless modern images.
