Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.
Hour of the Boar (10 pm) - Lovely Utamaro print depicting a young maid preparing to serve tea to a seated beauty. Terrific detail in the formal kimono of the young woman, her hair pinned high in an elaborate hairstyle. A terrific reprint from Utamaro's "Twelve Hours of the Yoshiwara" series. The gold mica flecking in the background an especially lovely feature.
