These lively images feature vibrant color and a wealth of detail, illustrating the bustle of modern life amidst the beauty of nature. Some prints showcase the rapidly changing technology of the Meiji era, featuring steam locomotives and telegraph lines, foreigners, or the latest modern stone buildings. Others offer serene glimpses of nature, including blossoming cherry trees and rushing waterfalls. These subjects are rarely seen in reprint and provide an interesting look at life in Meiji era Japan.
