Horie and Nekozane - Handsome view of fishing villages on either side of the Sakaigawa or Border River near Edo. The Border Bridge spans the channel from Horie on the left to Nekozane at right. In the foreground, a long cord leads to a net buried in the sand to catch plovers, with two trappers waiting in the marshy grass for the right moment to pull the cord and snare the birds. Just above them, a road zigzags along the water's edge, and with torii gate just visible beneath the pines at center right. Clouds streak across the horizon in softly shaded colors, with the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. An attractive composition, nicely detailed.
