Asahina Saburo Yoshihide and Troops Attacking a Castle

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting Asahina Saburo Yoshihide on horseback at right watching as his troops prepare to attack a castle. Two samurai stand on an arched bridge in the center, one pointing to the enemies gathered atop the fortress with shields and polearms ready. At right, the banners and standards of approaching samurai flutter above the foliage, a mass of sails on the water beyond. A fantastic design with wonderful detail. The first time we've seen this interesting subject.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1836 - 1887)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 7/8"
