Confrontation on the Hachiman Plain, at the Great Battle between Kai and Echigo Provinces at Kawanakajima, on the 10th Day of the 9th Month, 1561, 1853

Comments - Fantastic depiction of the two great generals Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin at the Battle of Kawanakajima. In the center, Kenshin gallops into the enemy camp on a dappled horse, gripping his sword with both hands as he aims at Shingen. Still sitting on his folding camp stool, Shingen raises his iron battle fan to deflect the blow. His retainers rally round him, leaping to their feet. The battle rages fiercely, with a samurai at right drawing back his sword as an enemy who tumbles onto his back with legs kicking. On the shore behind them, warriors battle on foot and on horseback. A dramatic and lively scene illustrating the famous 16th century war between Kai and Echigo provinces.
