At upper left, Maegami Saikichi grips a sword between his teeth, looking suspiciously out of the corners of his eyes. At upper right, the otokodate or street knight Ude no Kisaburo stares back at him with an angry frown, a ladder tucked under his arm. From left, the actors are Bando Mitsugoro VI (top left), Sawamura Tossho II as Akari Jinzo (bottom left), Ichikawa Kuzo III as Tsurugi no Chozo, Ichimura Kakitsu IV (Ichimura Uzaemon XIII) as Akebono Genta (bottom right), and Ichikawa Kodanji IV (top right).
