Kudari (Actors Leaving Edo for Osaka)

Comments - Interesting scene of four actors leaving Edo to act in Osaka, known as kudari or going-down. They kneel onstage as they make announcements to the audience, the men at left exchanging angry glances. The actors in the left panel are Onoe Kikujiro II and Onoe Utajaku [?], while the right panel features Bando Kamezo and Bando Hikosaburo. An unusual subject with nice expressive figures.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 19 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Nice detail. A few small repairs and creases.
