Series; A Contest of Magic Scenes by Toyokuni

Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Motada Jiro, 1863 - Terrific supernatural kabuki scene featuring Ichimura Kakitsu IV as Motada Jiro watching as the scene on the folding screen behind him comes to life. He looks warily down at the turtles from the back of a folding screen climbing onto the floor before him. At left, the stream flows out of the picture and around his feet, grasses growing at the left edge of the folding panel. He wears a geometric print kimono with a koto, blossoms, and an axe near the bottom, and writing on the sleeves, a dotted towel in his hand. A great image, wonderfully detailed.

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple small losses at edge, a few tiny holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
