Nakamura Shikan IV as Inuzuka Shino, 1863

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as Inuzuka Shino, one of the Eight Dog Warriors, battling atop the roof of the Horyukaku, a tower of Koga Castle. His feet spread firmly apart on the tiled roof, he grips his sword with both hands, a determined frown on his face. A row of lanterns can be seen along the bottom edge, and a full moon glows in the night sky. A handsome image from the play "Nami no rifune oto no yoki Soga" at the Morita Theater in Edo.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. Folds, small repair, wrinkling throughout.
