Yugao in the Moonlight in a Summer Palace, 1852

Comments - Charming scene from "The Tale of Genji" of the beauty Yugao dressing. She stands at right, looking down with a shy smile into a mirror held by a companion as another woman adjusts the hem of her robe. Behind her, an elderly woman wearing glasses leans over to place a kimono in an elegant lacquer chest. At top center, a beauty holds up a candle in a candlestick. At left, Genji waits inside another room, smiling as he sits on a cushion. A lovely design with wonderful detail in the fabrics and elegant interior setting, including burnishing on the chest. The first time we've seen this attractive design.

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 29 3/4" + margins as shown
