Prince Genji and Beauty in an Iris Garden, 1848

Comments - Lovely scene of Prince Genji and a beauty in a garden on a wooden walkway over a pond. The nobleman smiles as he looks over his shoulder, wearing a coat with a pleated collar over a gray kimono with Genji symbols near the center. The woman smiles as she holds an ornate container holding glowing coals from a red cord in her hand. Irises blossoms atop slender green leaves grow in the water on either side of the walkway. An attractive design, detailed with lightly embossed patterns on the white kimono collars and linings.
