The Tale of Genji: The Story of Akashi

Comments - Charming scene from Chapter 13 of the famous "Tale of Genji" of Prince Genji traveling along the shore. He rides a dappled horse led by a palace guard, flinging one sleeve up behind his head as he looks up with a smile. At right, a woman combs the wet hair of a diving woman as she sits on the beach, a couple of baskets nearby. Pine trees frame a view of the water with the sails of ships returning for the night in the distance and a full moon in the evening sky beneath a border of clouds. The first time we've seen this attractive design.
