Comments - Great scene of Minamoto no Yoshitsune preparing to leave for battle. He stands in the center, fastening the cord of his helmet topped with a dragon figurine while a beauty behind him adjusts his armor. At right, his sweetheart, Shizuka gozen or Lady Shizuka smiles sweetly as she watches, a quiver of arrows in her hand. Just below her, a samurai on a black horse carries a standard topped with the paulownia crest of the Minamoto clan. At left, Yoshitsune's loyal retainer Musashibo Benkei looks up with an angry grimace, his eyes bulging. He grips a naginata and has an impressive array of weapons at his back, including a large wooden mallet. A terrific design with wonderful detail. The first time we've seen this samurai subject.
