Manji Takao, 1859 - Attractive portrait of the beauty Manji Takao and a young girl. She wears a blue kimono patterned with large tie-dyed maple leaves and flowing water, tied with a green checked obi. Her hair is arranged in a large loop tied with white ribbon and adorned with a hairpin decorated with a maple leaf. She looks down over her shoulder at her companion, who stares back up at her. Lovely detail in this handsome portrait, with embossing on the white kimono trim and lining, and fine line work in the hair.

Condition - Nice detail and good color. Backed with paper. Light horizontal and vertical lines where backing papers meet.
