Iwai Kumesaburo III as Shirai Gonpachi, 1850 - Attractive kabuki portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo III as the ronin Shirai Gonpachi reading a letter. He looks up with a smile, stretching the long message between his hands. His black outer kimono is patterned with Genji symbols, worn over a red under robe with a blue collar. His hair is pulled back into a thick topknot tied with white cord, his two swords are at his side. A handsome image with soft shading on the night sky.

Condition - Good detail. Partially backed with paper. Vertical folds. A couple small repairs. Wrinkling throughout.
