Scene from Okuni no Matsu Soga Nakamura, 1861

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo III as Fusano, later Ofusa, in "Okuni no Matsu Soga Nakamura" at the Nakamura Theater. She smiles as she tilts her head coyly, raising one sleeve above her head. Blossoming irises and tie-dyed streams decorate her blue kimono, worn over a red under robe and tied with a red tie-dyed obi that reverses to black. A robe patterned with clematis can be seen on the green floor of the room behind her. A charming design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. Backed with paper. Fold at corner, a couple creases at edge.
