Sawamura Chojuro V as Kato Saemon Shigeuji, 1848 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Sawamura Chojuro V as Kato Saemon Shigeuji, frowning angrily as he holds a red lacquer cup of sake with a cherry blossom floating in it. The collar of this brown brocade coat and his red kimono both feature subtle burnished patterns, and the shite kimono trim and the sake are detailed with embossing. A rarely seen Toyokuni III series featuring actors as reflected in black lacquer mirrors with various pieces of cloth draped over the frames.
