Series; Twelve Hours of a Modern Clock

The Hour of the Horse, Ninth Hour of Day, circa 1818 - 1824 - Charming portrait of a beauty during the Hour of the Horse, running one hand through her long wet hair while holding a pipe in the other hand. She wears a black kimono patterned with delicate leaves over a red under robe, tied with a purple obi, a green and pink plaid cloth is tied over her shoulders. A basket of fish can be seen at lower left. A rectangular inset above shows a dog jumping on a young boy wearing an apron and carrying a jug. An attractive design from a rarely seen Kunisada beauty series.

Condition - Good detail. Stitching holes at side, a few wormholes, repaired. Light creasing throughout.
