Beauty Carrying a Basket

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of man carrying a large tubular basket above her head, similar to those holding rocks along the embankment behind her. It has red cloth forming eyes and a mouth, giving it the appearance of an enormous snake or worm with a silly grin. She wears a green kimono patterned with snow-covered pine trees, tucked up at the waist to reveal her red under robe. Water flows swiftly through the channel behind them, the surface rippling with the current. A fascinating subject.
