Original Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauties on the Sumida Riverbank Overlooking Asakusa, 1843 - 1846

Comments - Attractive scene of beauties at a tea stand along the bank of the Sumida River, enjoying a view of Asakusa in the distance. One woman relaxes on a bench at right, while her companion in the center carries a telescope and gestures happily to the beauty at left. Pleasure boats, cargo ships, and ferries move up and down the water, the far shore lined with teahouses at far left, and a lumberyard at center right. The rooftops of temples and the spire of a pagoda at Asakusa rise above the treetops, and Mt. Fuji can be seen at left. A charming design.

Artist - Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 29 1/4"

Condition - Good detail. Tear and thinning at edge, a few holes, repaired. Light wrinkling in left and center panels.
