Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the tale of a magic fox who took human as the beauty Kuzunoha to marry the samurai Abe no Yasuna. Here, the daimyo Ashiya Doman sits on a lacquer stool beside an elegant palanquin as he chats with Yasuna. His eyes wide and an alarmed expression on his face, he holds out a cloth-wrapped object to the samurai. The kneeling Yasuna looks up with a solemn frown as he leans forward. He wears a black kimono bordered with yellow scrolls and tiny blue gourds. At left, Kuzunoha watches the nobleman suspiciously, her hand resting on the shoulder of their young son. Autumn grasses and blossoms frame the evening sky behind an elegant enclosed palanquin. Nice expressive figures in a handsome setting.
