Travelers and Mt. Fuji, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting scene of a group of travelers before a view of Mt. Fuji. In the center, a beauty holds a small wooden tub of laundry under her arm, waving her sleeve at the fellow that kneels at right. He eyes her suspiciously, a wooden pestle in his hand. Behind him, a vender takes a break with his trunks on the ground behind him, sneering over his shoulder. At left, servant scratches his head in a puzzled manner as he holds a bamboo broom over his shoulder, his unshaven face shadowed in blue. Yellow flowers grow beneath a border of white clouds with the mountain rising majestically beyond. Nice expressive figures in a handsome setting.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29"

Condition - Good detail. Vertical folds, a few repairs, creasing at edges.
