The Four Seasons: Spring Amusements at the Honorable Lower Palace, 1849 - 1852

Comments - Charming scene of palace beauties enjoying a spring day in the garden. At bottom center, a crouching woman holds a blossoming cherry branch, perhaps to cut it off, smiling as she looks up. At companion sits on the bench at left, the young woman beside her holding her own flowering branch. Cherry trees frame a view of a lake, with a couple of stone lanterns on the shore at right and center. The first time we've seen this attractive design.
