Series; Modern Style Set of the Provinces in Edo Brocade, 1852
Totomi and Suruga Provinces, 1852 - Charming design from a series depicting the provinces of Japan. For Asagao Province at top, the beauty Asagao (Morning Glory) walks along as two young boys chase after her. She wears a kimono patterned with morning glories and carries a walking stick. For Suruga Province below, Sawamura Chojuro V appears as Jubei, looking up with a tightlipped frown as an old man runs along the pathways behind him, waving his hands frantically. A rarely seen Kuniyoshi series and the first time we've offered this design.

Condition - Good detail. Slight separation at ends of vertical fold at side, repaired.
